Song Name: ‘Slam Me Not’
Song Writer: Crash Betty’s
Song Kind: Rock: Hard
Reviewer: Satire
On Christmas Eve in Jerusalem 2017, Nafonia Fields met Josie Slam and they formed the nucleus of Crash Betty’s. Elizabeth Stein came in later, after much crashing by Naf and Josie at Elizabeth’s boat hous. ‘Betty’ played the drums and was known for her loud crash cymbals (actually two crash cymbals spaced and stacked on one stand). They all moved in together at Betty’s to put this record together and started jamming.
What I liked about this song was its personal jab at the most mundane thing, that being, a visit to the Doctor. “Damn it Doc, I’m on the clock’ (the demands of modern life). I believe that with only three members in the band, unless there’s a studio dude lurking somewhere there’s a lot of overdubs on this record. And a lot of punching in. But they do it well and it fits. It’s a clean production for a raunchy song with a bright, clean, shaved sound that makes you almost believe digital is as good as analogue.
This isn’t the easiest stuff to listen to because the wores and music get you in the gut. I recommend having a listen and definitely buying the tune with your favourite app. Make it pay its way. Less apps. more songs. until next time…
